Are they really that bad? I would like to hear what people who own this fan think about the noise. I want to get a SLK800 and a fan to put on my AthlonXP 1900 and try to overclock it. It looks like the best fan as far as cooling is the Tornado, but from what I'm reading about it it is insanely loud. I guess I'm just not sure what to do now...

Look into getting a cooler running and better overclocking T-Bred. With that heatsink (the SLK-800) you could slap on a quiet fan such as the Panaflo L1A and get excellent cooling.

I have a Delta 80cfm which is practicly the same as the Tornado. I have learned to get used to it. It does help if you have some 120mm fans that are lower pitched to help drown out the noise of the whiny little 80mm fan. For cooling it is absolutely amazing. If you can stand it, or if you have loud speakers and will always be listening to music or playing games, it isn't horrible.

Click "save" on for the first one here. That is about what it will sound like.

Hope this helps.

Holy crap that is crazy! I don't know if I could stand that. I mean my computer is kinda loud now but it's not all high pitched like that. Hmmm do you think I would still be able to overclock if I used a "normal" 80mm fan? Thanks for that link Metalloid15, very cool to be able to hear the fan before you buy it.

The SLK800 is a great heatsink, so you'll be able to overclock even without a hairdryer fan on it. A few case fans will do your system good. :) They don't have to be screamers to make a difference, just strategically placed. I had great success by cutting a hole over my cpu and putting an L1a over it.

Right now I have an 80mm fan in the front, another 80 in the side panel, and a 60mm in the back. I also have a couple fans mounted inside the case with a Zalman bracket, but I don't think they really help much so I would probably take those out. My CPU temps suck with this Volcano 6cu+ on there. It's sitting at 52C right now. Usually ranges 48-55. Another question I thought of is should my side panel fan be intake or exaust?

Yeah, Volcano 6cu's are awful.
For the case fans, I always recommend a 'positive case pressure', meaning more air going in than coming out.. but I am caused pause as your system seems to only have a 60mm fan as an exhaust. Will an 80mm fan fit in the rear of the case for an exhaust? That will help your noise out a lot, too.

I don't think an 80 will fit in the back. The screw holes that are there are only the size of a 60....

LoL NokiaDude. I think I'm just going to put one of my regular 80s on it.
