I notice a lot of online cooling stores are selling the AX7 heatsink with the option to select the Vantec Tornado fan, is it worth the price? Anybody have any personal experiences, or suggestions. Currently using a Dr Thermal TI-V77N with an XP 2000. I have another XP 2000 machine to setup, would this be a better choice ?

The AX7/tornado fan combo usually runs close to 40 bucks.

I have an AX-7 with a 40 CFM Panflo on it. My athlon right now is 35C and system is 33C. The highest I have ever got was 47C but that was with my graphics card fan dead. Once fixed it wont get over 43C.

As far as the Vantec are you sure you want that loud of a monster in there? I cant even hear my panflo over my PSU, and my PSU is pretty quite.

Oh yeah I should probably tell you that I am running a Athlon XP 2000+ not overclocked on a Dragon Ultra in a Antec 1240sx case.

Thanks I like my name. :)

The Panflo I have does not, it has a molex connection.

Try this site out.

This is were I buy all of my cooling supplies from. Go into the socket heatsinks and then to thermalright. Then select the AX-7. He has bundles with fans that come with them. Lised is the CFM and the decibls. There are some other good looking fans and you might just want to look through and see what you can find. He also has the Vantec fans and the decibles listed.

Hmm I just looked at my stuff and I found out the medium speed panflo comes with a 3 pin connection. But the high output (what I have on my heatsink) comes with the molex. But after looking at his site he sells a replacement cable for the high output panflo so that it has the 3 pin connection.... Its 1.50.

Hope this helps..

Well the Tornado is a heck of a HSF but I don't like it unless I really need it because of the noise levels. One I would recommend if you don't want to go the quiet Panaflo route is the Sunon 50cfm 80mm fan. Thats definately the top end of the middle road with the Sunon. Thats what I'm running on my AX-478 HSF(same as AX-7 just different clamps for a P4). The Sunon gets 50cfm at 40db which isn't all that bad noise level wise. you can probably get that combo for around $30-$35 if you shop around.

But yeah, low road fan wise I'd go PanaFlo(its not really low road but comparatively it is :) ), medium road a Sunon 50cfm fan, high road a Delta or Tornado fan.

Good luck
