vantec tornado and abit AV8 motherboard....

Can I use the 92mm vantec tornado fans 3pin rpm connector and connect it to the motherboard and let the motherboard regulate fan speed? i know the motherboard is capable of regulating fan speed via the 3pin connectors, im just wondering if it can do it for the vantec tornado since on the vantec tornado here (http://www.frozencpu.com/fan-34.html?mv_pc=3516) it says "3pin connector for rpm monitoring, and 4 pin for power). does this mean i can use the 3pin to control the speed of the fan and the 4 pin to power the fan?
