I bought the Tornado two days ago for my case. I couldn't stand the noise I mean 55dAB super loud .My
friend bought the Thermalright sk-7 with a low noise fan so i told him to try my Tornado. We install it and WOW the CPU temperature drop 8C beats my Thermaltake volcano 7+ high setting by 4C. I would recommend this fan for hardcore overclockers if they don't care about the noise! o yes my friend was using a Athlon XP2000 for his system.

I found the speed switch on the Volcano 7+ to be faulty.
I got a Zalman speed regulator to tune my fan cooling on this unit. (cheaper than another HSF unit)
I found that the fan does NOT need to be screaming loud to cool at its optimum with this copper HS.

I installed the regulator, fired up Prime95, and let the temps rise to max.
Then slowly turned the regulator down until the temps rose a little, then turn it back up slightly to bring it back down.
The fan rotates almost 1000 rpm lower from the high setting on the switch.

AND ... its quiet now. Not much louder than my old Alpha HSF unit.
(if at all louder)

My idle temps with the V7+ is 28.5C (only .5C over the MB temp) using my XP2600+ at 1.80v (hot)
At full load only 51.5C.

:)

I talked to ... and read a lot of people who got rid of HSF because of noise. Too bad.

I also have the tornado on a MCX4000, its hella loud but it sure keeps things cool.

38C idle/42C load
P4 2.8 @ 3.0 1.525V

Heh, I'm using a 80mm tornado as a blower and I spliced the wires to a 3 pin molex connector (it had a 4 pin direct to PSU connector before) to connect to a thermaltake fan controller... When placed right over my AX7 at full blast,, my athlonXP 1700+ (o'c to 1.53ghz) runs at a cool 35*C compared with the 40-43*C using crappy thermaltake (NOT SO) smart fan.... Only thing I don't like about thermaltake fan controller is you only get three settings, Max, medium, and low.... medium does a decent job with low noise, but I would like more control.... Reccomend getting the vantec nexus fan controller... comes with neat front plate and adjustable knob to control several fans at once.....

You know that really cool looking Tt (Thermaltake) emblazoned fan grill? Take that god-forsaken thing off your fan. Then you will notice how much quieter it is.
