Vantec 80mm tornado and thermaltake fan speed controller?

I bought a vantec tornado and a thermaltake fan speed controller, hoping that I can hook both together in order to reduce the noise, but I neglected to notice that the vantec tornado uses a 4 pin power connector direct to the PSU... the thermaltake fan connector uses the 3 pin molex connector to connect fans to the adjustable resistor before connecting to the psu....

Obviously, I can't connect them together, but I was wondering, if I were to desolder the wires of the tornado from the 4 pin connector and re-attach them to a 3 pin molex, would that work? Could I potentially burn out the resistor of the fan controller by doing this?

I have one already, but that doesn't solve the problem.... I need a 4 pin to 3 pin adapter, which is the exact opposite... can't seem to find one anywhere tho....

Try splicing and connecting the wires then. Doesn't take long and isn't hard at all.

The Vantec Nexus comes with the '4pin-3pin connectors' if you need them. The Nexus is also a better fan controller than the TT one.
