if they didnt cost extra- i'd get them... i'm sure it would take me forever to think of something to put on them though. I'm fine with my regular plates.

I don't have them, but I debated it when I bought my project 914. In the end I decided that since the annual fee for the plates would be close to the cost of 6 months of insurance for the car I would put them off until I got the car completely squared around. I figure that after I've dumped a couple thousand into the car the extra money for the plates won't be too bad. There are only three things I'd get on the plates though, "76 914", "914" or "TEENER" so if those were taken I'd settle for CUH-1407 or whatever the DMV gives me from the normal stock of plates. Also, almost forgot that Ohio recently redesigned their plates and the new ones are hideous so I'm definitely not getting plates until the Ohio plates get another redesign.

Ohio's got some goofy crap on their plates, that's why i get the veteran ones, at least I can kinda control how stupid it looks. :D

check my sig.. its there.

My car will have my name. Everyone else in my family has a car with a personalised plate. I will get one on my first car. I dont think the Tercel desrves it right now. Plus since i am not selling the tercel and getting a new car, transferring the plates to the new car and getting new plates for the tercel will be a bitch..

oh well.

I saw a Hot Little lady driving around town (eugene Or.) awhile back with

MILF

On her plates.

I wonder if her husband / boyfriend picked those out for her?

Hey Zenmervolt,

If the car is a '76 model you probably qualify to use antique plates in Ohio. All you need is a set of '76 plates and you can use those. It's a really nice touch on an older car. I have a '57 TX dealer tag on my T-Bird and a '66 TX dealer tag for my Shelby and four other complete brand new sets of regular '66 TX plates (one for a current project and spares for projects yet to be aquired). I can probably get you a contact for plates in your state if you want. I don't know Ohio laws but most states allow these plates on cars 25 years or older.

I have yet to see any plates that make the driver look like anything but a sad person. Not to say that it's impossible to come up with good plates; but most people seem terribly unable. My friend's father had plates that were "vroom" for his saab. Thank God he never put them on the car. Sad.

Yep. While most owners think they are god's gift to humor most of us are wondering what was running through their head when they thought it would be a good idea for personalized plates.

It's too expensive for my taste... but if I would, I'd get CAPSHCKY on a NY plate. If you can make that out, I'd be damned suprised.

Caps Hockey? caps fan huh?
I do have plates...my parents bought them for me for my birthday a couple years back. THUMPRR. only cost $100 single cost, then all you have to buy is the license tabs and those are what it regularly costs..nothing extra.

I'd think about getting them except for the fact that vanity plates make your car instantly identifiable in any number of cases...photo radar, speeding, angry motorist.......your plate is a word, expression, etc., making identification of your vehicle so much easier.

I don't have them, but I always like to figure them out. The two best that I recall seeing are:

3M TA3 <-- This took a while, then I passed them and looked in my mirror --> EAT ME

The second one was a little more obvious, but have never forgotten what that driver looked like!
