I have the Abit KT& Raid. On the RAID IDE 1 I have an IBM Deskstar. I am trying to put a Maxtor hard drive anywhere else on the system to install Windows 2K and have a dual boot-Win98 off the IBM and Win2K off the Maxtor. However, no matter where I put the Maxtor, Raid or non Raid controlled IDE's, master or slave, it is not found by the OS. It shows up in the bios just fine, I even forced the CD Roms and Zip down a drive letter to fit the Maxtor. It simply is not being found. Is this OS, compatability or what? I did have the Maxtor in this computer prior to buying the IBM.
Cheers

What is the file system on the drive?? Try to boot with an EBD and fdisk to see if you can see it that way. If you are NTFS that would be why you cannot see it! If not then I would put the drive in a system as the only drive and FDisk /mbr reboot- fdisk and build a partition - then reboot and format... Then move it back to the system that cannot see it and see if it will come up now....

The Maxtor drive has my old Win98 system on it. Same as the IBM drive. I DID get the computer to boot off the maxtor on IDE 1 (non raid) and see the IBM on IDE 3 (Raid IDE 1). What I want is to boot off IDE3 (Raid IDE 1) to take advantage of the ATA 100 and then have the Maxtor as another drive on the system, any IDE port.
Cheers
Greg
