Vanishing dynamic shadow w/ HD7850 / Catalyst 12.3

Anyone else having issues with dynamic shadows dissapearing in games with hd 7850 and/or the 12.3 drivers? It seems to only be world/prop shadows; character shadows don't seem to vanish on me. It also seems to be dependant on what angle I view the shadow from.

So far I've tried reinstalling drivers and enabling/disabling every IQ setting in the drivers and games - to no avail, obviously.

Bad drivers? Some kind of "optimization" in the drivers?

Help?

OK, that looks very annoying... It reminds me of when I enable AA in Skyrim. Did you try games without AA? Not really a fix, just something you might want to check and try to narrow down on the reasons...

I've tried enabling and disabiling AA, AF and every other setting you can imagine both in the game and in CCC, AFAIK. The only thing that works is disabling shadows - for obvious reasons.

This is driving me nuts!

I'll cap a vid of stalker when I get home from work because the "bug" is even more interesting there - when I enable sun shadows they disappear on the corners of the screen when I turn quickly... The whole thing seems like some kind of optimization gone haywire, like it's trying to optimize fps by hiding shadows not in view, the problem being they ARE in view.

I haven't noticed anything wrong on 12.3.
12.2 was also a great release (fixed my multimonitor profile issue)- give those a try. Personally I wouldn't go back further than 12.2 if you think it's a driver rather than issue with the card.

Do you have Catalyst AI set to Performance/Middle/Quality? Remember, AMD turns it to middle by default, could be bad optimization implementation?
