I'll never touch another game by Brad Whatshisface or SoE again. Now Warhammer and Darkfall... there's something to look forward to.

The Vision rocked. People always want things handed to them, but you can't taste the sweet of victory without having sampled the bitter of defeat. Because EQ was more challenging it forged people into better players. In WoW I'm routinely biting my tongue to avoid snapping at idiots I come across who haven't the faintest idea of what aggro is and why they should avoid it if they're not tanking, people who won't help without something in it for them who turn around and wonder why nobody will help them with whatever they need, etc. I agree that the playerbase is the worst thing about it, but there are good guilds out there with likeminded people - find one and /leave general.

If I could choose between WoW and EQ before the Planes of Power expansion, I'd have one hell of a tough choice. If WoW hadn't introduced me to structured PvP with rewards, an engaging combat system and a phenomenal UI system and addon community I'd choose EQ hands down. Ideally I'd like to play both... but EQ is 5 years dead this coming October (Planes was Oct. '02).

I get cable again tomorrow...should i buy BC and start playing wow again? :p
There's a ton of new content. Even if you just play through it once and decide you're done again, it's well worth it.

Game royally sucked. Fun factor is zero, after level 10 it is a pointless and long-winded grind, graphics were not impressive, and I probably chopped down 100-150 sum trees and I was still not able to "upgrade" to the next level of tree. I'm back to Eve

I bought it and didn't last into the second month. It felt alot like EQ but after playing WoW I just didn't want to bother with corpse retrievals and tiptoeing around monsters that tended to help one another and zerg you to death. Not fun. The guild that I joined with high hopes and had quite alot of members in the beginning is now <poof>!

I beta tested Vangaurd. It was a complete mess and it was apparent that Sigil did not know what the hell they were doing. Many beta testers were to busy kissing Brad McQuaid's arse and day dreaming about his "vision" to realize the mess the game was in at beta. Microsoft though realized the turd they had and forced Sigil to act by telling them to ship early or else. So Sigil bought out their ownj contract with MS and went running back to SOE for more funding. Mind you that this game had already been in development for 4 years already !! Frankly speaking VG is and still remains a buggy, incomplete piece of coding.

WoW is the polar opposite in terms of it's technical polish that Blizzard is known for with all their games. LOTRO is just as polished as WoW in it's current open beta form and was 10x more polished then VG when both VG and LOTRO were both in close beta. If you are looking to get into a fresh MMO game then give LOTRO a try. WoW while being very good is now very, very top heavy with it's player base and on some servers finding low-mid level groups to run dungeons can be hard. EQ2 is also a good MMO now but at it's launch it sucked hard because of bugs, performance issues and incomplete game play features. As it stands now though SOE has turned it around big time IMHO and it plays now like WoW to a bit but it has a much more in depth and complex gameplay then WoW.

For everything else Vanguard is simply a complete disappointement. The game, even though I had been looking forward to it for years, has nothing going for it. Maybe if it can last a year and get 1 expansion at least it will become what it should have been. Until then , it's not worth it unless you also happen to play other SoE games and have Sony Station Access.

Don't start that BS, because thats exactly what it is. I played beta and the chats were full of the same stuff in WoW. I've played just about every mmorpg out there and they all have the same amount immature players.

As others have said its very buggy, takes a beefy system to run well, and has too much going on and makes it confusing.

edit: didn't notice this was a zombie thread and that i already posted in it, lol
