Vanguard shutting down in July

I'm guessing if it was "good" it wouldn't be shutting down 😛

Not a fan of these mmo's just going off line, leaves the consumer with useless software. Is that expensive to keep a single server up and running? My warhammer discs do make for some nice coasters...

I can't count how many I have... Star Wars Galaxies (several versions), Auto Assault, Earth & Beyond, Asheron's Call 2, Sims Online, for a few... I agree, they should stay online.

Wow, had no idea this was still around. I remember playing the beta back in the day.

I think it's been running on an arduino in a dusty, unoccupied cubicle, but I was surprised to see quite a few people playing when I logged in a week or so ago. Seemed to take a hit after the sunset announcement, unsurprisingly.

For anyone who really enjoyed Everquest or Vanguard and wishes to try another Brad Mcquaid project, check out his current progress of Pantheon. He says it's his next Everquest and he's got an impressive team working on it. They give daily updates and take fan feedback all the time. Please follow the link:

This may be a rare chance to experience a challenging MMO that's not a WoW clone.

Wow Brad Mcquaid just came back to EQ1 not a year ago.

This is the best interview with Brad Mcqaid. He talks about his mistakes on Vanguard and what he wants Pantheon to be. It really looks like Everquest 2.0. For those who are skeptical about Brad's ability to succeed after Vanguard, check out the 20:50 where he addresses it directly.
