Vandals destroy soldier's memorial

LINCOLN PARK, Mich. -- Police in Lincoln Park are searching for vandals who destroyed a statue dedicated to a soldier who lost his life in Iraq.

All that remains of the statue in Veteran’s Park is a pair of bronze boots. The rest of the memorial has been pried away.

The memorial was built about eight months ago for Sgt. Craig Frank, a member of the Michigan National Guard who died in Iraq in 2004.

According to the Fallen Hero Memorial Foundation, the community raised thousands of dollars in record time to build the memorial.

I guess it was taken for the metal?

If the local Police/Gov/Locals REALLY cared about it they go to the recyclers and put presurre on them. Some places did that after copper pipes/wire was being stolen and the rates dropped as the dealers would not buy without proper ID and address's.

Yeah, it was probably stolen for the metal more than it was vandalized for ideological reasons.
