The problem with Vancouver is that it's extremely bland in the typical Canadian way. All the buildings in the downtown area look like they were designed by the same architect. I'm sure it's a great place to live, but it just lacks character like cities to its south (Seattle, Portland). I suppose it didn't have a counter-culture movement which usually spawns creative classes. Plus, it has the crappy Pacific Northwest weather.

Not sure why Seattle gets the attention it does. It can't hold a candle compared to Vancouver.

winter here blows. i dont care what you people say, december on 24th ave this year was pretty much silent hill.

Oh no doubt. But come on, we all know that was a huge rarity. I think at that point there was almost a metre of snow on the side streets and the windchill had dipped to -20 C a few days earlier. That was a once in a decade kind of winter.

Hopefully. Last Winter sucked nads and I'll take 3 months of Rain over that any year.

Sound about right for Vancouver for someone that lived there. I bicycle commute and often it takes me about 1/3-1/2 of the time less than driving from East side to/from UBC.

Probably b/c you people drive so slow. Like I said, it use to take me 20 minutes from Robson St to UBC in the morning and back. I think I was even going the speed limit and I found myself having to weave thru the traffic as everyone just casually drove around without a care in the world.

No one Drives the speed limit.

I know, often times it seems like most people go well under it!
