1. What will the approx taxi fare be from the Airport to this addr
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q...-123.137856&spn=0.172385,0.459366&om=1

2. How can I get from the above addr to the US Consulate. About 2 km
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q...,-123.108459&spn=0.010764,0.02871&om=1

Is there public transportation? If not what will this taxi fare be approx?

Thanks,
N.

[Edit] i decided not to stay there. i was going to until the lady official at immigration in canada advised me not to stay there.
i cancelled it over the phone, got charged 1 day rent. and stayed at the Burrard Inn on Burrard St. Pretty uneventful stay.

Vancouver is so beautiful. Loved the downtown area with the sea planes, cruise ships etc. awesome.

Dude, I hope you're not staying at that address. It's the crappiest part of Vancouver, nothing but homeless people and crack whores.

Yeah, it could definitely use some work, but it's fairly decent. Cab fare will be expensive, and the bus system here is pretty extensive.

Yeah man, it's not a great area. But if you have the hotel call you a cab, you won't have to walk through the neighborhood.

But it's not thaaat bad. You won't get shot at or anything, it's just one of the ghetto areas of Vancouver.

During the day you don't even really see many homeless people, they like to come out at night.

Seriously though, you'll be fine.

Yeah, it's definitely not the nicest area. A nicer cheap place to stay is the Accent Inn right near the airport. It should be pretty easy to get to the US Consulate from there via bus or cab too, although it is definitely a little ways from downtown.

Another vote for no way would I stay there. Silverpig has a good idea. Should not take too long by bus to get downtown.

I live near downtown. I think a cab from the airport is about 25 dollars cnd.

Check out expedia for hotels

Hotels advertising rates under $100 and in great locations are:

The Century Plaza
The Ramada Inn and Suites
Sandman Suites on Davie
Best Western Downtown Vancouver (4 blocks from Yaletown... very cool part of town. check out the yaletown brewhouse pub if you can)
Empire Landmark Hotel and Conference Center (right on robson street... center of shopping in Vancouver)

Dude, relax. When people in Vancouver say "It's the crappist part of town, OMG don't go out." We mean, "There's crack heads who sit on the corner and beg for change. Don't walk down the dark alley by yourself wearing nice clothes flashing lots of cash, and you'll be fine."

You can go out after 6 pm no problem. A 4 block walk West and you'll be in a decent part of town. 4 blocks more and you'll be looking at $3000 suits in the window shops.

More than that, it's 20 bucks for me and I live in the Dunbar area.

It's like night of the living dead in that area! Junkies look so much like zombies it's creepy.
