Vancouver, Canada

I am on Vancouver Island, so our market is not exactly the same as Vancouver, but in general the economy is very good and jobs are plentyful, especially in the construction industry at the moment. On the downside, Vancouver has become one of the most expensive cities in Canada for real estate, and has significant traffic problems that have yet to be solved.
 
From my understanding, medical jobs pay anything from roughly the same to a lot less than the US, depending. Doctors with specialties in demand can make more in the US, nurses somehwat more, depending on where, other medical fields I'm not sure.

A single family deached home in a nice neighborhood in Vancouver proper runs about 700K-1Mil. The burbs 400K up. Downtown 1Br condo about 250K+. Rents are around 900+ for a 1Br depending on where. As with anywhere, there is considerable variation.

Medical is great...I pay only $70/month for me and my 2 boys...80% of my prescription costs are returned to me and I also have 80% dental coverage...it all depends on your employer of course as there are many plans...no HMO's and PPO's...you chose your own Dr and can change whenever you want if you are not happy with their service.

I thought you were talking about the medical plans itself. As for jobs the best places are the hopitals for sure, Vancouver General Hospital, BC Cancer Agency are the biggest employers. There are a few Biotech companies out there however I am not sure of their job status.
