I could never get into Van Hagar but i only ever heard what was on the radio.

I liked Sammy as a solo act & saw him live in the early '80s.

I'm gunna have to go with the DLR era.

Cranking out five good albums is about the limit that any band can do....most bands lose their steam.

Sammy Hagar was OK as a solo act but never mixed very well with Van Halen.

I went to a Conference like 15-16 years ago and they hired Sammy to play a concert. (they always had decent acts at those conferences like Collective Soul, Huey Lewis, Goo Goo Dolls, Styx, etc...) I have to say....Sammy and his band Cabo Wabo were pretty fun to watch. You can't compare him to David Lee Roth like everyone else always does. They're just different styles of rockers.

What's crazy is bands like Journey who cruise Karaoke bars (I know that's not how I really went down) to find cookie cutter cover singers of their songs who's mimicry could fool someone who didn't know it wasn't Steve Perry.

Having seen the original Van Halen several times, including when they were a warm-up band for Kiss, AND ALSO with Sammy Hagar as front-man I can say its not even close.

I liked Van-Hagar but Diamond Dave was 20x better sorry.
