So I'm most of the way through the game, I just got to the part where you go underground and rescue that crazy guy, who is definetely insane. And then fight the guy who teleports around. You have a time limit to leave before everything blows up, so you run out and get onto the boat to escape. I get on the boat and it goes to a loading screen and then freezes, never to return. It does it over and over and over again. I've updated the game and that didn't work. Any other ideas? I've scoured the net to no avail

In my humble opion its one of the ground breaking RPG's ever made. Every time I read a thread on it I'm so temped to replay. And it has a ton of replay value. There are or were buggs, you need to visit a forum to stay clean from fking it up (or were). There is a patch out that fixes at least some things but I havent played with it so I cant comment. It was bugged that there was 1 location you didnt want to visit untill you had the quest to visit there. So much fun, the charactors were so well fleshed out. To the OP a google of the game name got me a good forum. Im thinking your talking about the brother (lots of zombies then a boss fight with a vamp with a shotgun?) If i'm right there was no boat. I left the way I came in but I'm not sure I'm right here. Please be more descriptive on the nature of the fight.

This game could be soooo much better, but it's not. It runs like absolute crap at lowest res, 800x600 on my machine. No option to run at 16-bit, which is part of the reason why. The game is also very buggy, and likes to crash a lot. One bug that really annoyed me and made me uninstall the game was how your character just can't walk normally through the automatic opening doors, you get all stuck in them and $hit and it's so very annoying I had to uninstall the game. I really like the storyline and RPG style gameplay, but the programming is just garbage.

It depends. If you enjoyed the System Shock, Thief or Deus Ex series of games, Bloodlines is definitely worth 40 bucks. If you didn't enjoy Masquerade, you might still enjoy Bloodlines as they are nothing alike.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing it. It's too bad Atari gave Troika the royal screw job in terms of support, or it could have been much better. It's sad the only game Atari seems to care about is some 4 year old RPG with gameplay more banal than a Mamet script.

Well , Atari is in deep sh|t now financially. The fired thier CEO , they lost thier biggest franchise UT . Who knows whats next, but it was definatly stupid to stop supporting this game. Maybe it was because Troika split up I don't really know.

Deffinitely install the fan made patch. It is a shame it came to an unofficial patch for such a great game, but what can you do.

I'm playing this game right now and if not for all the bugs and how it runs like crap I'd say its an absolutely awesome game. The gameplay runs well and its definitely fun. I enjoy going back and seeing how the different NPCs react to different dialog choices. Some of them are pretty hilarious. The RPG elements of the game are great.
I've got the same problem skeedo does though. The game runs like crap. My rig: P4 1.8GHz, 512 RDRAM, Radeon 9800 pro. While its not the most up to date my system can even run BF2 on lowest settings very nicely. Painkiller and UT2004 at 1024x768 with medium settings both run like champs. This lets me know that though it may be older its not a crap system yet. Bloodlines however even at the lowest settings stutters constantly. It mainly happens in the hub areas but has also been happening in others. I also have to endure one complete game crash for about every 4 hours of play. NOT a good ratio.

Thanks guys, I haven't played the game for a few weeks, even months. And after looking everywhere else, download all the official patches and so forth - I decided to post here and I'm glad I did. The way I described the fight was to the best of my memory, but since I haven't played in at least a month I can't remember any of the other details.

Its in a warehouse of sorts, after drudging through some under ground caverns, and then you ascend a large stair case - at the top is when this guy jumps out an then teleports way far away - and yes I believe he had a shotgun but I can't remember that detail. I will try the patch you guys showed me and play through it again and give any more details. The thing is, after you beat him you get a timer started, which I think actually starts after you talk to the guy in the top "fortress" type place, for lack of a better description. The guy is definetely insane and was captured or something. So you have to get out of there before the timer goes down. You leave where you came in and the timer is still going. There is a dock right after you leave this part of the level, which was there when you came through on your way here - but there was no boat before. I think the boat is the way out because, like I said - I got on the boat and it seemed to start loading something but would then crash. Maybe I should try just going through more caves until the timer expires.

Any way. Lastly, I loved this game - up until this point I had tons of fun playing it. There are lots of different directions to take and lots of choices, ala KoTOR and Jade Empire. I would recommend it to anyone who likes KoTOR, because that is the closest game to this IMO. Now hopefully when I get home this patch will work and I can finish it. BTW, where I'm at is quite far through the game, I'm pretty sure its close to the end.

My appoloigies for my refference to forums in last nights post. I did indead reinstall the game and when I looked for the forums I've used in the past I couldn't find them. I finally got them http://www.forumplanet.com/planetvampire/ . The good stuff may be a few pages back as the games not new anymore, but the good stuff is there and I think all quests will be explained. I'm pretty sure now that the quest your working on is not the brother I was refiring to earlier as that is earlier in the game. Again I'm sorry for tossing off a google reference when I couldn't find it with google, although it was there its just not real apperent.

Was looking for a password and saw this. I'm guessing this is your poroblem. "When you are downtown, don't go into the theatre via the sewers, until you
have the quest to do so. In general, exploring on your own is not that
useful, as the game is really quite linear, and many things won't actually
be there until you get the right quest.

Your game may crash to the desktop at the end of the Society of Leopold
mission. If this happens, you have to run the game in console mode.
When you're next to (but not on) the boat to exit, bring up the console
and use:

SaveJohansen()

Then:

changelevel2 la_hum_1 taxi_landmark

Nosferatu should use:

changelevel2 la_hub_1 sewer_map_landmark"

And half the time you lose your inventory. No reason to that, though, when it was fixed in the patch posted above:

*Fixed crash to desktop when the player returns to the boat after rescuing Johansen from the Society of Leopold.

It was Activision, not Atari who publishied Bloodlines. Troika was the developer. Activision closed Troika, Troika did not 'break up' voluntarily.

Regardless, I enjoyed the game very much, and played through with multiple characters. The only part of the game I did not enjoy was the end sequence. I enjoyed the ending, but not the nonstop combat required to get there.

Hehe, my favorite ending is when you back the Asian vamps. Awesome ending. :D

I had the exact same issue with this game, and this worked for me.
