Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Confirmed For The 16th

November 09, 2004 - November is turning out to be the month for gaming as Activision today confirm that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Troika's Source-powered action role-playing game will be released on the same day as Half-Life 2, November 16th:
An all-new RPG adventure, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is filled with rich character development, an intriguing storyline set in White Wolf's World of Darkness, and mind-blowing graphics powered by Source - Valve's next generation engine technology. It will take a vicious array of vampire disciplines and a healthy penchant for blood, for players to survive the dark and gritty undying world of modern day L.A. Selecting from one of seven clans, gamers will interact with other characters, decide with whom to ally themselves, and watch as darkness takes over their soul while a mysterious plot unfolds.
Adhering to contractual obligations not to be released before Half-Life 2, you should be able to pick this one up from 8.01am GMT on the 16th.

Update: A swanky new gameplay movie is now available to accompany the news.

While I'm happy the game is coming out, I can't help but question the decision to release it the same day as Half-Life 2.

More importantly, I can't help but wonder, in this vast sea of quality titles coming out this November, who in their right f*cking mind would announce an official release date one week prior to release?! If this game ends up being good, I hope it doesn't get lost amidst the dozens of huge names on the shelves.

edit: I think I meant "lost".

I am soooooooooo glad that it is meeting the projected release date. They've been projecting this game for release in november for a long, long time now but there was never and could never be an official release date simply because it relied on HL2. I'm glad that they are able to stick with a november release date and have no problem buying HL2 and Vampire Bloodlines at the same damn time :).

Am I the only one more excited about this game than HL 2? A FPS shooter with a great story is one thing. Vampires:Source is another!

best buy likes to break release dates... actually i think that may screw things up... Bloodlines wasnt supposed to be available until HL2 was, because of the Source engine. Uh-oh!

I'm hoping to see many games with both varieties of technology as well.

HL1 had the story, HL2 did not. ;)

I can't allow the slight. HL2 is the best game ever. No hype at all. It is the best game ever on pc, xbox, ps2 whatever. It's a masterpiece.

HL2 is almost a clone of the story of HL1 with a few changes and faction changes. But still fun, wouldnt say its the best game ever, but it was fun.
