to be honest these restrictions are not very relevant to the games functionality or anything, and most people will spend more than $5... but it just shows how relying on just Valve can be a very bad thing, having options like GoG and Origin is a very good thing.
I don't remember having a problem with spam on steam, but I haven't played online games on steam for the past few years,
backfire post of the year?
No.
You are on a tech forum where most here are probably hardcore nerds and have already spent cash for some shit.
That is not in any way prove that most of those who use Steam are the same as you.
And even then there are at least a few who agree with me on these new Steam policies and any other bullshit.
Because neither of those things would do a damned thing to stop fraud. So why not just start limiting accounts under 4 weeks old or under 100 hours of gametime?
Many are being used for other kinds of fraud, like Greenlight game voting. Want to unfairly get your game made at the expense of the others in the running on Greenlight? Your options are A) Sleep with a game journalist and start GamerGate or B) enlist a botnet with hundreds of fraudulent accounts to vote for your project. Account theft is still a huge problem where scammers contact you and ultimate phish your details through a link to an impostor site or something.you're def. overblowing it.
I haven't seen the spammers but limiting chat use by new accounts isn't that bad.
backfire post of the year?
Then what would work?
Why not just give users to right to block any friend requests under the Steam Level or 2 or whatever the fuck you want?
What does that have to do with your rage?
That has to do with the fact that most users on Steam are not necessarily purchasing games and especially the new users are probably playing all the free to play games like Dota 2 and Warframe and shit.
You think Dota 2 players aren't spending money ... ... ... ? And "most" .. really "most" Steam users are not purchasing games?
Let me guess you actually think Steam has good customer service?
Spend 5$ and be done with it poor man.
I've never understood why customer service for a game or game company is even considered. Why would you need it?
What proof do you have of anything you're saying? The links you posted certainly don't support your position. And you have any proof of what you are supporting?
