I've never had a problem getting a valve game to run. EA game on the other hand... and there lies the difference. DoD:S was the only game recently I thought felt skimpy on content cuz it shipped w/ 4 maps. But since the community is huge that didn't last long. You have to remember that the accessibility of a game and the community help make it great too. CS:S maps are getting better and better as more people with great ideas learn to use the map editor. You can't do that w/ EA games.

Long live Valve.

Its only mistake was/is Steam. That and the Team Fortress crap.

Steam is quickly becoming one of their best ideas ever. You would have had a point calling it a mistake back when they implemented it for HL1 CS. It was bloated, slow and no one knew why it was even needed. But to call it a mistake now shows complete lack of understanding as to what is occuring with Steam recently. Seeing as how they've added just about every single small time developer to their roster over the course of a year and are now supporting a multitude of games that either did or would have had trouble coming to market as well as some oldies that everyone should have played. Valve is single handedly supporting small time developers through Steam and getting them praise they never would have recieved.

Defcon, Psychonauts, X3 without Starforce, Uplink, The Ship, Darwinia, Jagged Alliance 2 Gold, Shadowgrounds.

saving them all from the claws of EA
