Valve Games not working at all, Help?

Every Valve game I've tried to play from steam has completely failed. I start up either Half life: lost coast or death match. Both don't work. The move on to Counter strike source, and yup. It doesn't work with the same exact error. The error reads as: Engine Error, Platform Error: module failed to initialize. This is complete bullshit considering I payed for these games and they fail for no reason. Any help or hints would be appreciated as to how to fix it. I'm running Win7 64bit with a radeon 5850
 
have you searched google for the exact error message? there are people with the same or similar problems on the steam forums and some solutions
