Valve Cancels Portal 2's press event at E3

the surprise will be that portal 2 is being renamed to portal 2:episode 1. This will allow more frequent portal releases by going with episodic content updates rather than just releasing completely new versions of the game every few years.

I was always under the impression Portal was just a test of something in their engine they were prepping for Half Life. It just happened to be a very clever and well thought out game. Weren't there rumors that the main chracter in Portal was a new character in HL? I would imagine that Gordon Freeman and this mystery woman meet up and Gordon gets the portal gun. That is what I always thought throughout Portal.

Portal was it's own game. Some group of people made a "portal" game except it took place in a castle or something and Valve saw it and hired them to make portal for source although presumably it's going to be tied into the half life series at some point (they already started to tie in apeture science in hl2e2).

I do remember hearing the character from Portal would be involved in Episode 3 somehow. I wouldn't be surprised if Portal was just the introduction to the Portal gun and the character itself.

Don't forget the slide show easter egg in Portal that shows Aperture Science vs. Black Mesa in regards winning over the DoD.

That game was "Nerbacular Drop".
