Valve and blizzard should merge

Its a bummer bilzzard games aren't available on steam. Steam is superior to bnet so blizzard games should be on steam. Thoughts?

There would be quite a difference between the two companies actually merging together as one, and having Blizzard just release their games on Steam.

Steam is just a distribution platform, so is Battlet.net, but B.Net is exclusively offering Blizzard games. Since Valve takes cuts from sales of games sold on Steam I don't think that Blizzard will ever even consider releasing their games there. Plus, Battle.net works just fine without Valve or Steam involved really. And Steam being '"superior" to B.Net is only subjective and certainly not what Blizzard would look at if they were to one day consider releasing their games on it. They'd instead just want to know if releasing their games on Steam would result in more copies of their games being sold in addition to the copies sold from B.Net as well. If they 'study' the possibility and like the theoritical results then they might discuss it with Valve one day, who knows.

But I don't think it's necessary or even desired at all, B.Net is alright as it is and Blizzard essentially prints money... they really don't need Steam.

They won't merge any more than Ubisoft and EA would merge. All of them have their own "clients" (DRM) to add "value" (hinder paying customers) tied to their games, and they want to keep it that way.

Actually Valve and Blizzard are the worst in terms of vendor lock-in. At least Ubisoft and EA offer some Uplay/Origin games DRM free on gog.com.

Match made in gamer Hell, While I really like VALVE as they seem to genuinely want to make PC games a big deal, they are making money hand over fist so have little interest in Half Life 3, Left 4 Dead3, etc.. And Blizz, while maybe some of the most talented "touch up" people ever, have just remade other peoples ideas, hard work developing an idea into a game done by company A, Blizz come along and takes all the hard work and Polishes it non stop. If you can spend all your time polishing and not have to make the core game it saves alot of time for polish and using somebody else's shoulders to climb up is how they do it. With that said, they have watered down the polish so badly now they seem to be forgetting what made them great by trying to appeal to everybody. Vanilla Ice cream is good, but almost everybody likes a specific flavor, blizz just keeps pouring out vanilla as its a sure fire "almost everybody will eat it" flavor, even if they prefer other flavors.

i honestly haven't even played any Blizzard games aside from the original Diablo(s) and SC2 for about 40 minutes.

...and valve, don't even get me started. basically just a marketing conglomerate at this point.

I was thinking about adding my two-cents into the mix until I saw who made the topic. Lets see how far this can devolve until it gets deleted.
