Value System for a Friend

Hi All,

Was wondering if I could get some of your opinions on a value system my friend is thinking of buying.

Compaq Presario SR1920nx desktop PC

He only needs it for basic web browsing, e-mail, office apps and games that his 6 yr old daughter would play. He only wants to spend $450 CND. If anyone has others suggestion please post a link. I live in Toronto if anyone knows of a good retailer here.

Thanks

I would try for a dual-core setup. Dell's E520 w/ Pentium D 820 and 1GB RAM starts at about $550 or so after tax. A really nice configuration with 3-year tech support, warranty & accidental damage protection goes for about $900.

Huh. For when 64 bits isn't enough, I guess. 🙂
Anyway, it looks decent, but you should definitely add more RAM to that. Also, uninstall Norton Internet Security, all it does is sit there and suck up resources. I would see if they have a newer model that supports DDR2, but this one is OK for the price.
