Value RAM. Is it good enough for gaming?

No, those 2 you linked have the exact same timings. The only difference is the heatspreaders. Faster RAM doesn't matter that much anyway unless you OC.

Thanks for the replies, but I'd still like to know if this particular ram can be a factor in OC ing the CPU. Can it actually prevent me from OCing to 4.8GHz or so?

I guess I'll find out when my parts arrive in a few days, but it would be nice to at least have an idea in advance.

No, if your MB and CPU are capable of reaching 4.8 Ghz, the value ram will not prevent you from reaching it. In other words, you have the same chance of reaching that speed with the value ram as the Ripjaws.

No, since all SB overclocking is done by the CPU's multiplier, and not by increasing the FSB. So no matter if you run at stock, or (if you can get your CPU to do it) 5Ghz, your FSB will still be stock speed, and you can run your RAM at whatever speed you want.
