I am building a system for a friend was thinking about an athlon 64 3000+ not sure about the motherboard yet, maybe Epox EP-8KDA3I. He is on a budget of $700 to $800. They will be using this mostly for web surfing, word processor and a few games (no action mostly cards, backgammon, etc.), no overclocking. I was planning on buying value ram Corsair, Crucial, Mushkin or Kingston to help stay within the budget. Now I am a little worried that I may have to change my strategy just because of the ram that I need for an Athlon 64 processor. I was surfing the net trying to find information about ddr for the Athlon 64 and found this Athlon64 Special Report. After reading this article I'm not sure if value ram will be stable. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks

Value RAM is fine. For that kind of stuff, a cheap Socket A machine would be fine too.
