Anyone know the approximate value of a used salt water aquarium? Its 6 foot long

It is full of water and has the pumps etc. thanks

I'm by no means a definitive source, but I know enough to tell you that the pumps, filter and lights on the tank could be as expensive as the tank itself, or more.

I think you'll need more detail on the stuff included to get a decent answer. Also any live stock in the tank would probably matter a good deal.

No fish, has a bunch of coral. I just thought it would be a selling point that its fully functional and not a heap of parts. Thanks

Live coral, or just coral rock? Also, are any high intensity lights included? What size are the pumps and what kind of filtration system does it have?

I won't know what the answers to those questions translate to in a dollar amount, but it'll help someone else answer your question better.

I dont now the answers to those specifics. It was abandoned in a office bldg by someone who had more money than sense. It has an entire custom cabinet built around it with doors above and below to conceal everything but the tank. It has light and sort of like a mini aquarium below which contains the pump/filter system. It does have light above it.

What has value is the nice stand and the aquarium. Depending on the quality of they lights, they could go from worthless to several hundred dollars.

The sump below and other equipment (skimmer, pump, etc) depend on the quality. Once again, worthless to several hundred dollars.

does it have a lot of pretty corals(alive) in it? if it does then it could be worth something. if not then it just comes down the the cost of the tank and equipment.

The cabinets probably are not worth much. They are built floor to ceiling and designed like custom office cabinets with raised panel doors etc. The run about 12' long and maybe 10' tall so not really residential application.

Its actually a wall between rooms so you could view another office.

by your demensions it is a 125 gallon tank. If it has plumbing that goes through boxes in the back of the tank and they go through the glass, it's anywhere from $100-$1000 depending on the condition and brand.
Best bet is to hit up http://www.reefcentral.com/for...46a35d0147b1674&menu=2 and post the location and give some pics. Locals will come in droves to pic live stock and rocks out of it. Then you can get rid of the equipment to whoever wants it. If you charge like $5 a piece you'll get rid of it real quick.

If it's in DFW I'll give you $100 right now. lol
