Value City: $99 Home Apex DVD Recorder

For those of you with Value City Department Stores in your area, there is a 3-day sale (Thurs-Sat) with an APEX Digital DVD Progressive Scan Video Recorder. Apex brand has been hit or miss with me but seems like a good deal? Also plays MP3 and picture CD's.

I bought an Apex player about 3 years ago, it was great for playing just about any format you threw in it. It's just now starting to crap out, so this looks like a good next move for me. Wonder how the recording quality is on this one.

Wondered that myself. I had an Apex that has been going strong for a long time. But I had another that crapped out after a year. Guess you get what you pay for but this seems like a really good deal if the recording quality is decent. Guess you can always grab one to test it and return it if you're not 100% with the recording quality.

Well I went out seeking reviews, and it looks like most of the websites that had them had jjust copied from Amazon.

Looks like its hit and miss. Some of the misses were just technowusses complaining that the interface was not perfect.

Most comforting aspect of this deal is that it is B&M, so there are no shipping hassles to worry about. I'm gonna grab one, and if it sucks, I'll take it back - no harm, no foul.

LOL, in my area Value City is a bunch of thrift stores.

All the Value City stores are pretty much thrift stores. Mostly cheap clothing but they have home decor, small appliances and some electronics. And what they sell is new in box with return policy. It's better than Big Lots...lol
