The 1999 thread brought back some fond memories. Ah, the golden days of the Hot Deals forum! And yes, even before that was the WMC's. Many people here probably don't even know what that means. So post your fondest hot deals memories from the days of yore! My fondest-

Voodoo3 3500: Everywhere else $199...... Value America 50 bucks
Epson Stylus 740: Everywhere else $199........Value America 50 bucks

I got so much good stuff from ValueAmerica for 50% off I don't think I can think of it all right now.

Definitely the best deal EVER. :)

But probably the worst business model. ;)

Ahh, VA my old friend.

Toshiba 27 inch tv. Everywhere else $450, VA $250.

2 sets of revere cookware, everywhere else, $100 each, VA FREE! (I cancelled my order, got my CC refunded, and 3 months later, I had 2 sets of cookware on my doorstep!

The best thing I got from VA was probably my 19 inch monitor. While my voodoo 3 is collecting dust, my 19 inch still gets use. :)

That wasn't even the best deal back in the day IMHO. Remember Whoopi and the free $10 flooz?

$10 coupon at Tower Records+STACKABLE Flooz= a buttload of free DVD's and CD's :D

I remember I got my DVD player for 100 bucks back then... I am still pissed about buying Dreamcast Resident Evil for 20 bucks after rebate. The 30 dollar rebate was to be redeemed by value america but they went out of business!!!

Buy.com was also really good to me (aside from that monitor fiasco).

How about the Visitalk Buy.com gift certificates deal?? $200 per account...I made a killing. :D

Hehe I got my fair share from ValueAmerica.... Mercata too.

But my utter favorite deal was in December of 1998. 800.com had just opened their DVD section, and were offering any three DVDs (it was a pretty good selection) for $1.00 SHIPPED (UPS Ground). It was one per credit card number... As well as using my own, I "borrowed" friends and family's credit cards and handed them a dollar on the spot. That was how my DVD collection got started. After buy.com, Columbia House, reel.com, vividence gcs, and numerous other deals it's over 300 strong.

(wipes a tear away)

Ah the good 'ole days of Value America and Value Bucks ... getting everything for 50% off, free shipping _AND_ eBates, damn those deals were hot.

Spent at least $1,000 on VA.com in a way it's good they went under, all that money I saved but eventually spent elsewhere.

Yes, I'm also guilty of plundering Value America on numerous occassions. Primarily for CPUs and hard drives............ when they had them in stock. Those discounts were just too cool.

Remember the $100 discount offers if you made the purchases with a Visa card? Even though Mastercard was valid for the same discount. ;)

I think the best for me was a Pioneer DV525 with the 5 free DVDs and 13 rentals for $50 after MIR.

That was all I risked my money on buying from them and surprisingly I didn't have any problems at all.
