seriously though guys, am I the only one that thinks taking someone out to dinner isn't as romantic or good as putting real effort into a special home cooked meal? or are there that many totally inept cooks in this world

As a background we live in a 1br apartment (550sq. ft.)

I am, what most say, a very accomplished cook. I can indeed make esquisite meals and she loves that. But if you want a romantic evening that will eventually get you some that night, and your girl is partially/fully OCD about cleanliness, you don't cook at home on a romantic night.

Expertly prepared meal usually equals lots of dishes, lots of heat built up in your living area, and most importantly, a huge mess to be cleaned up that she can see from said living area. Nothing good is happening knowing that before any romantics occur the entire kitchen needs to be cleaned. No the whole premise behind a VD dinner to me is that it's a worry free night to be a couple, kids go to the babysitter, someone else makes the meal, and the couple concentrates on being the couple for one night out of a year.

Take Olive Garden for instance. The amount of Olive Garden hate on AT is comical. I'm not saying it is the best Italian restaurant on the planet or that it is super authentic, but for the most part, I think it tastes fine.

I've got to disagree with you about the OG, I've been a couple of times and it's always been terrible.

There seem to be two different tiers of chains restaurants. Some are ok, I mean Ruby Tuesday's does a tasty burger and Carrabba's has decent albeit somewhat unexciting food. The lower tier ones (Applebee's & Olive Garden come to mind) aren't worth eating at.

I dunno for me the only time i'll go out is for GOOD bar food or some fancy place that is goign to run tripple digits for 2 people. Bar Food is tricky to do at home, and I can cook better than you would get at most run of the mill resturaunts for a 1/4 of the price. but there is something to going to a real fany resturaunt occationaly

I didn't go, I've had this happen before not much they can do, really its a really minor injury but right on a giant nerve cluster. there is a surgury they can do to correct the problem from happening again, but puts me out of commission for 2-3 months...yeah...its not that much of an issue yet.

I went out to the bar and the pool hall with a few friends from work. It got pretty bad by the end of the night as we kept forgetting who was on what team ( and on first! :awe: ) and what balls we needed to be shooting at. I think for one game, we went a couple turns shooting the wrong balls in. :p

Humble, I was informed in early December that Huebner Oaks was being closed for one reason or another, and that the Fiesta 16 was being expanded or changed. Completely shocked because Huebner Oaks was one of the most popular areas to hang out at due to the amount of cafes and stuff.

Macaroni grill is shit. If she puts out for that I wanna be introduced to her sister.

I feel for ya OP. My wife loves macaroni grill too. I'm usually good with any restaurant, but I've never had a good meal at Macaroni Grill, they always burn my pasta, which I didn't even think was possible. Another time I had a wood fired pizza, it was basically charcoal when I got it. Disgusting.

Luckily we didn't have to go out last night and I just made some steaks on the grill.

I cook almost all my meals, going out is the exception.

Yah that was a bit odd. I go to that area alot, but hadn't been to that theater in awhile. I usually just go shopping in the front area away from the theater or stop by the Flying Saucer on the backside from time to time.

The Fiesta 16 on Vance Jackson was a dump of a theater last time I was there. Although I did like going to the Fox and the Hound on the corner there for a long time, until I had a little misunderstanding there with some of the people there. So I don't go back there anymore.
