Easy for someone who has cooked filets before. If that does not apply, practice or go for a thinner steak.

I rarely cook, but usually stuff I make turns out fairly good. I've cooked filets before, but on a grill. The only sucky thing is that I have an electric burner that is either too hot or too cold - medium heat is gonna be tough...
