Vacuum problems

amdskip

Lifer
5 year old Hoover

It keeps burning belts up. It doesn't get used more than once a week. Worth figuring this thing out or toss it?

Buy a dyson. 😉

/waits for dyson bashers to beat on me.

Sounds like the roller brush berrings may be burnt up putting stress on the belt? When you take the belt off does the roller brush spin freely or is it very hard to move. Can get a new brush that may come out cheaper then buying a whole new suck a thing a mo bob.

Buy the Wally World Dyson knock off. Its like $100 bucks.

Thats what we bought, no filters to change, and it really does do a decent job.

Thats what I have heard. I am just about to buy one and get it over with.

On a related note, my vacuum started making an odd noise. It seems to work, but it sounds like the difference between say the motor being inside the vacuum and it sitting on a bench out of an enclosure (meaning that it is louder, more open sounding). I have torn it apart and can't figure out wtf is causing it.
