Vacuum for Tile/Hardwood Floor Cleaning?

I agree they are expensive but you identified a $580 MSRP vac. That's about the same price as the CT26E Festool vac which has similar performance. Plus, it's actually quiet (a major selling point) and it's made in Germany.

I've never looked at the specs for the festool vacuum because it appeared to be a limited use unit. I also don't see how it could perform any better than the Dustless, but I'll check it out.

Someone mentioned Miele vacuums in this thread and we have one. We won it in a contest actually so it was free! I grew up using dinky cheap vacuum cleaners and thought spending hundreds of dollars on a vacuum was insane. Within minutes of opening the shipping box and turning it on, we realized the quality. We got home late the day it was shipped so we didnt unwrap it until 11 PM. We turned it on for a second just to see how loud it was; we have tenants upstairs and did not want to wake them (im thinking it was going to be loud like normal vacuums). It was unbelievably quiet and had tremendous sucking cleaning power. Ended up cleaning the entire house late at night and nobody woke up. It feels like a finely engineered machine. It cleans better than our old vacuum and doesnt have a powered beater bar. No idea how it cleans the carpets so well on just suction alone but the results speak for themselves. We are definitely sold now. Made in Germany too. We love it.

Could you share what model you have? A person could potentially spend mega bucks on a Miele. They range in price from about $300 to $1500 (results from a quick search). We're going to need a new vacuum cleaner in a month or two and I'd be curious to know what model you have.

Ours is a canister vacuum. The Classic C1 which is a little over $300 if I remember correctly. It looks like a bottom of the line model and we still love it. Miles ahead of any hoover, kenmore etc... brand we had in the past.

Thanks! I wouldn't object to spending that amount for something worthwhile but I wasn't even remotely interested in spending the amount they're asking for one of their high end models.

We're having a new home built and having sold our home are renting a furnished condo while waiting for the completion. It did not make financial sense to move our belongings 1500 miles, pay to store them for months and then pay to move them again. So we sold everything and brought only what would fit in our cars. The vacuum cleaner didn't make the cut.

All the suction and agitation from the nozzle tool is what makes it work. We use Pro-Team backpacks and the suction is insane. .

We just reviewed the best vacuums for hardwood floors on our site. Our top pick was this particular model of the Shark Navigator Pro for a few reasons. High powered suction, hardwood floor specific attachment came with a microfiber cloth to pick up any lingering dust and allergens, and it still works amazing through the rest of the house (include tile, linoleum and even thick carpet!)

Like @NetWareHead said the Miele's are a great option. We included the C2 canister model on our list as well. But as far as suction, versatility, and noise go, we found the Shark model was on par with the M

Purchased this just yesterday. We use Method products for everything, including the wood surface cleaner, so naturally I was elated to find they sold a device for their wood floor cleaner. The mop itself requires no batteries; think of a squirt gun with a fanned out stream. The pad works on both sides -- I spray, scrub, then flip to dry the area. All said, it worked like a charm and made the house smell fantastic. I'll probably use this every other week, dry swiffering between uses.
