Vacuum cleaner died :(

My Hoover Windtunnel vacuum cleaner has apparently died a horrible death.

Do I replace it with a Dyson?

dyson, sure if you want to. It's a decent vacuum. Don't be put off with anyone saying that it's over priced, it's your money and you can spend it how you want.

Screw the Dyson, buy the knock-off Dyson at Wal-Mart for $113.

It sucks 13% more than the Dyson.

I've put it head to head against my Mom's Dyson and while the Dyson is more ergonamic and feels better built, has a longer cord.......... my Hoover is the king of suckage.

It is only sold at Wal-mart so no sense in looking for it anywhere else.

Ebay + Dyson = FTW

My parents bought one off ebay maybe 2 years back and it is the most amazing vacuum. Anything else isn't worth your time.

My Hoover died last month and I pulled the trigger on a new Dyson and won't ever look back.

It feels sturdy and picked up a ton of crap off of our floors even after having vacuumed them with my mother-in-law Oreck.

I'm considering buying a dyson myself. I think I might have taken the plunge with a #14-animal refurb from amazon a couple days ago at $369-25 coupon+free ship, but they hiked the price $30. New on ebay is ~$410 shipped. I'm told for animal hair/dander this vacuum can't be beat. My GF has terrible allergies to our cats.

Lucky: just an FYI, the Animal model is no different than the regular DC14 in terms of the actual vacuum. The only difference is the Animal model comes with different accessories and a bag of useless cleaning "powder." The accessories on the Animal model can be purchased separately.

I purchase my DC14 Full Upright kit (comes with damn near every accessory) from Costco for $450.

Just got a new Hoover Savvy which was rated #1 by CR. It comes with the "pet-hair" attachment and it is awesome! It picked up so much more dirt/hair than my old vacuum it was scary.

buy another windtunnel, they do ok in consumer reports. by the time it breaks again who cares they are cheap. my experience is hoovers last quite a while. long enough that you might as well replace it with newer better stuff once it does die. dyson is way overpriced trendy lifestyle type purchase, its not really rational.

I had a Eureka that quit working. Took it apart and discovered that all it needed was some motor brushes. It finally bit the dust recently, but I had that vacuum cleaner for about 20 years. And yes I did vacuum with it occaisionally. Bought a chaep Bissell at Wally World to replace it. It does a decent job, but it doesn't clean up to the edges of walls anywhere near as good as the Eureka.

well this months consumer reports has another vacumn lineup🙂

its kenmore/electrolux/kenmore/eureka/hoover for spots 1-5, dyson is 6, and hoover takes the next 3 slots the rest of the dysons are way farther down
