Vacationing in Toronto?

JS80

Lifer
My friend really wants to go to Toronto...I ask him to produce an itinerary and I'll decide then. What is there to do in Toronto besides the bars and hookers?

Certainly not worst city in Canada. CN tower, go see a game if you can. Fort York, lots of good bars.

when I was there, we found a great little bar that had been started by a former tour musician. Dave something's I think. One of the best house bands I've ever seen.

a few good used cd stores too. I really enjoyed it there.

Canada's Wonderland. I think its like 30 some minutes away from the city. Its kinda like six flags, but with less rides.. still fun though..

HAve you been to Winnipeg ?

Winnipeg = pwned :thumbsup:

But yeah, the best suggestion I can give is come to Vancouver instead, or at least go somewhere interesting like Montreal.

it's by far not the worst.

OP, catch a baseball game at the skydome, and then hit Hard Rock Cafe which is a short walk from the stadium.

Worst city in Canada. The only people that will tell you otherwise are people from Toronto (ech)

Head somewhere that has a spirit, history, or beauty. My suggestions: Montreal, Quebec City, Banff, Jasper, Vancouver.

Not Toronto. Let them wither and die. They own the country as far as they are concerned...

how can you say it is the worst city in Canada? ever been to Cornwall, Ontario?

If you go mid October or later, take in a Leafs game and cheer for the other team! :|

😉 😀

Canadians love to hate Toronto(other than Torontorians), it's what separates us from the animals!!

Haha. I'll fully admit that Toronto doesn't have the natural charm of Montreal, but it's far from a boring place.

The nightclub scene in Toronto is very, very alive and is located in Richmond St. between Spadina St. and University St. We've a very many excellent restaurants - Chinese restaurants on Spadina St., a morass of Indian restaurants on Gerrard St., and I can shoot you over my list of recommended restaurants if you're looking for stuff in between.

There's the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, a large number of plays in production (including the world's only production of LOTR, though it's terrible), an eclectic shopping experience on Queen St. West, and so on and so forth.

IIRC, LotR thing closed recently cause of suckage. I gotta admit, living here is great, but Montreal was way cooler in terms of culture and locale. Regardless, yes, you can go to the CN tower, wow, another tall building. Baseball season ends soon, so no luck there; you could go to a hockey game. Bar scene is th bar scene, lots of bars and drunks waking down the street yelling and getting into fights with other drunks at 3am in the morning (I live down the street from a very busy "lounge" scene). There's the Science Centre, Art Gallery, Toronto Island and a big Lake. Yonge street is fun to shop at, but it's not like you don't have malls at home. Thanks, you just made me realize how bland this place is🙁.

it's called rogers centre now i think

I think you'll have more fun in Montreal with the casino, Mont Royal and all the historic landmarks and european feel of the city. As nice as Toronto is to live in, it's really more of a business town and doesn't have all that many tourist attractions. The Toronto International Film Festival ended yesterday, so that's out of the picture, and most of the fun events ends on Labour Day.

There's plenty to do in Toronto if you want to get a taste of the multiculturalism, but there's no 'big' attractions other then the CN Tower (Casa Loma is a tourist trap). Plenty of clubs, bars and restaurants which all have their distinct feel to them.

lol stupid albertan.

anyways, it depends on what kinda thing you're into... drop by the ROM, or check out the skydome [officially rogers center, but no one really calls it that... unless you're watching the sports station owned by rogers]

watch a pre-season hockey game if you want at the ACC, depending on your background, you can go and visit the areas you want.
