We are planning on taking the kids(I've got 4 of them) to So Cal for a week, probably in September.
We'll hang out on the beach a couple days, go to Disneyland, Sea World, and maybe the San Diego Zoo.

Where I work, you start with 2 weeks vacation per year.
Then, after :
5 years - 3 weeks
10 years - 4 weeks
20 years - 5 weeks
30 years - 6 weeks

But our plant use to be part of another company that gave more vacation. The new company allowed the employees who were already here to keep the same amount of annual vacation.
So we've got some people here who have worked here 10 years and have 6 weeks of vacation.

wow@that. Thats terrible. Guess its nice to start with 2 weeks but god, 5 year and 10 year differences? That sucks. What kind of plant is it?

EDIT: Also, why do you call it 'So Cal' I've been seeing that everywhere..

Actually, that vacation plan is not bad compared to a lot of other companies.
I work for Kodak as a software developer at a plant that manufactures medical laser imaging films for hospitals and doctor's offices.

So Cal as in Southern California. Southern California is practically a separate state from Northern California so it is common for people to be specific about what area they are talking about.

I'm in Oregon only about 30 miles from the California border, so if I said I was taking a trip to California, that could mean a 30 minute drive. But driving down to San Diego is about a 15 hour drive for me.

I'm taking 2 weeks to build 2 modern cabins for a camp for physically handicapped adults. I'll be going the 2nd and 3rd week of July.

Going to Navarre (sp?) Beach, FL for the week of July 4th.

Good times will be had by all (or at least me).

I'm probably going camping on 2-3 weekends this summer, once at Lake Chelan and again at Deception Pass (the third time is up in the air still). Also looks like I'm going to be staying at a Bed and Breakfast on Camano Island for the 4th of July weekend.

I'd like to take a weekend to go see my parents (in Eastern Washington) too, but we'll see how that goes.
