Why you might ask? To visit family. I will be there for a long weekend. Things to do there besides the galleria?

Stay in the AC. Avoid mosquitoes.

Here on business until Friday, ready to go back to SoCal now.

Dive down to Galveston Bay. Avoid the highways in rush hour. It's a nightmare.

There's this cool city that's just outside Houston. Lots of hot women, celebrities everywhere, boats, beaches, and great Cuban food.

Hurry to Miami.

Ok thanks. Looking for some Cajun and seafood places. Papadeaux a decent place or is it touristy? I remember eating at an oyster bar that had shells thrown on the floor or out in the parking lot. Very interesting. Any places for foodies?

Museum of Natural Science (Permanent dinosaur and Egyptian exhibit halls now)
Houston Zoo (walking distance to the above)
Museum of Fine Arts (walking distance to both above)
Battleship Texas & San Jacinto Monument (Bring mosquito repellant!)
Holocaust Museum (I haven't been to that but walking distance from MoNS)

Probably too hot but Brazos Bend State Park to see some alligators close up.

I went to The Galleria, it felt small (8th largest in US), mostly due to the walking area being small, like I said felt. Barton Creek Mall in Austin feels big (1M less sq.ft) but walking area feels roomy.

Rick's Cabaret, Men's Club, et al. Just saying.

If you are into Asian foods, go to West Houston, Bellaire Blvd. has some good places to eat.

Pappadeaux is a chain if that matters to you--we have them here in Chicago too. It's good seafood with huge portions but you can very likely do better from a foodie perspective.

Stay off the road from 7am-8am and 5pm-6pm. Thank you.

And Lol at things to do. Houston sucks...lived here my entire life (minus Huntsville...which was worse).

Strip clubs, restaurants, Zoo....um. That's about it I guess? Go to whatever odd concert is going on and that's about it as far as entertainment goes. We don't even have Astroworld anymore :(

It's too damn hot to do anything outside this time of year too.

I'll be in Houston from 9/15 thru 9/28. I just plan on running while not at work, I've spent enough time in TX to know that's about all I want to do.

Unless you're from the area, avoid Bellaire as much as you can. Keep in mind that Houston doesn't have any zone restrictions - you'll have a lot of nice houses, and then some slums. Quite common throughout the city, particularly downtown, the Heights, Montrose, etc.

This is a good list. (Live in Louisiana not too far away)

all the national press is saying houston has the most interesting food in the country right now, so, yes, there's places for foodies. just depends on what you want.

no oysters during summer. they've converted their glycogen to spat, so they don't taste particularly good right now.

pappadeaux is a locally based national chain, but the food is good.

if you want gulf coast seafood there's also goode company seafood just off of kirby on the south side of 59. get the campechana. or reef on mcgowen on the south side of downtown.

for old school tex mex and strong margaritas there's el real on westheimer near montrose.

Ok guys I had some Goode co seafood. I also went to Kemah which is a nice family pier area. Had some good food there. Pearland is a boring area.
