vacation days

i have the option to cash out vacation days or use them. i have 3 or 4 days left. I've asked 2 people already in the HR dept. (HR/payroll is the same people) what the real number is and they can't tell me. I've asked at least 4 times now.

anyway, should i take them or cash them out? they run out at the end of this month (the 27th) and I can't carry over. My vacation days will reset on the 27th also, so its not like I have to wait a long time to get more days.

On one hand, I could use the extra money. On the other hand, a few days away from this place would probably do me some good. I think I'm leaning towards cashing out. 3 days is about $284 and 4 days is about $378 (after taxes), if I did my math right.

i'd cash them out. I don't like taking days off in the winter when it's cold, unless I'm going someplace warm.

i should mention that if i were to use them, i'd just end up sitting at home most likely.

I would always take the days off, but thats just me. You might could find some project to do during your "vacation" to make some quick cash.

It depends if $284 is worth trading for 3 days of doing nothing and regaining your sanity. Personally, it would take a whole lot more $$ than that for me to come to work instead.

Exactly. You don't have to be doing something 24/7. Sit at home and surf the web, watch tv, and play videogames.

I guess I'm crazy, but I can do that any time. Why would I take a day off to do what I can do after work or on a weekend?

but thats what i do every day, when i'm not at work. i just sit at home. i've only had 1 friend for awhile and he lives 45 minutes away. not to mention that he's married and has his own things to do anyway.

i just reconnected with some friends from HS via email and I'm going to their place on Saturday, but they live about the same distance away as the other friend, plus they wouldn't have off the same days as me anyway.
