Ive now narrowed my choice of heatsinks down to these 3.

My tried and tested V7+ which is about £18 around here. The much publicised new Aeroflow TMD hsf and SK7.

Im wanting my new machine to be quiet but at the same time, I want to overclock. Im going to try to hit 200x10 but go even farther on an XP1700+ JIUHB DLT3C.

Question is, which will give me a better overclock? (I know that every setup isnt the same but the difference in price on these items is very high)

Volcano 7+ on low speed Vs Aeroflow Vs SK7 with Panaflo L1A

£18 Vs £25 Vs £48

You'll probably do better with the SK7 and the Panaflo. I have an SK7... but i'm waiting for my TMD fan. My bro is running my old Aeroflow with a 2100+ 1.7 @ 2.4 :D rock solid though.

SK7 no question.
Thermaltakes are loud no matter what, and offer poor noise/cooling ratio.

Get a Panaflo L1A or a YS Tech adjustable 80mm and you'll do great.
1700 Bs, as you know, are easily overclockable and run much cooler than the Palomino cores.

I strongly disagree. My V7+ is very quiet at low speed and keeps my Palomino 1800+ @ 45C full load.

YS Tech adjustable fans are not sold in the UK and the shipping cost from the US is unreasonable.

i had a v7+, and it cooled okay but it had an annoying pitch, imo. going to a slk-800 and 80mm was so much quieter and without the pitch.

Looking at it all, no-one recommends the V7+ which is the el-cheapo of the bunch, no comments on the Aeroflow and everyone points to the SK7 or SLK800.

The SK7 with Panaflo will cost £48 and SLK800 with Panaflo tops out at £55. Im actually seriously considering the Thermaltake Aquarius II WC setup. Thats £66 and Ive been reading some good reviews about it.

Not much comparison to many Thermalrights with slow fans but Im working on it. For £66 and as quiet as everyone says, if the performance is up to scratch, Im buying :)

On low the V7+ is quiet, but on the other 2 speeds it is too noisy for me. Th sk7 is the best overall value. It works just fine with a slow/quiet fan.

As for that Tt aquarious water cooling kit, we've tried to review it, but twice now we've gotten parts that don't work.

SK7 isnt much value over here :S as its only £6 or $9 cheaper than the SLK800 and about 60% more expensive than most solutions excluding fan cost on top.

That situation you have had with the Aquarius II is deeply concerning. However, all the reviews I have read were quite positive except it being too expensive (in its early days ~$150) and possible clip issues. It did its cooling job adequately.

The SK7 and SLK800 are so close to the same performance I can't imagine paying 8 pounds more for an 800 (they are usually about $10 more, which is less, in the US).
If you've had good experience with TT products, the Thermalrights (esp. the 80mm fan models) will bowl you over- there is no comparison.
The Aeroflow Ive not seen or used, but they tend to be well-liked by their users. The specs on it would tend to make me think it's considerably louder, though not necessarily 'loud', particularly depending on your perception, than an SK-7 with a Panaflo L1A, or even an M1A, for instance.

If you'd like alternatives to the Panaflo L1A, since the YS tech I suggested is unavailable, consider:
Vantec stealth, a bit louder than the L1A with a bit more airflow.
or the Panaflo M1a.
And check out Gizzo's fan database
I realize the 2 fan links are to US retailers, but it's just to illustrate the specs of the fans. I'm not familiar with UK retailers.

Thanks for that Godmare. It is still irritating me greatly that Id pay £38 that you could probably get for $20-$20 or less than £20 in my money.

Still.... if I want to be able to sleep with my PC on, I'll have to go Thermalright, TT Aquarius II or spend my pc upgrade money on a customised Water Cooling set.

Sounds cool apart from the spending my pc upgrade money. Without that, Ive got no chip to overclock
