V5 PCI and no D3D:(

I just installed a V5 PCI in BX6-2 with a P2-450 and can't get MW3 or MW4 to work. I did a clean install of Win ME and installed DX8 with the latest WHQL drivers from 3dfx. Every time I start MW3 the game starts to load but kicks me to the desktop after the mission launch. MW4 does similar, but returns an error code. OpenGl games like Q3 and Q2 run fine. I've tried all the BIOS tweaks I can find and still no luck. My system specs:

ABIT BX6-2
Maxtor 20gig
224meg ram
AWE64
300w PS
