V5 or GF2 GTS?

Would going from a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP to a VisionTek GeForce2 GTS 32MB DDR be a huge upgrade? Please post your opinions. I play Nascar 4 and Counter-Strike the most right now. Would this card be able to run future games (Max Payne, Doom 3, Unreal 2) ok? Not great, but ok?

If your frame rates are OK, then save your money. the only thing a GF2 would do for you is increase frame rates. the V5 has the best FSAA and runs games pretty well, I would wait a while then buy a fully DX8 compliant video card i.e GF3, radeon2, Kyro3

I would too but I don't have that kind of money I'm not going to really spend any money on it. I'm going to sell my V5 and get a GTS for $100. How does that sound?

Well; I guess it kinda depends if you don't MIND spending the money. You will see a noticeable performance upgrade, but does your V5 5500 not run well now? If I were you I would probably wait till the GF3's come down in price. Honestly though, a GF2MX w/ 32 MG SDRAM would even show a noticeable performance upgrade over the V5 5500. Stay w/ your V5 5500 and wait on the GF3.

You will see an increase, but when I upgrade I usually go in bigger steps.

That makes no sence. You say even the MX would be better (GTS would be MUCH better then) but I should wait on a card I won't be able to get for another 2 years??? You guys need to understand, I will not be paying much for this card, maybe $25 after I sell my V5.

You could have answered your own question in the beginning. I was just recommending the wait because i thought that you were going to have to give more money; i mean first you say $100 now $25. Make up your own mind.

The GTS costs $100. I could get around $75 maybe more for my V5. You do the math

I'd stay with the Voodoo5. It performs almost as well as the GTS but it has better image quality.

Wait till GF3 drops in price and buy one of those. Most likely your eyes will thank you!

I wouldn't bother with the GTS. If you wanted to go with a PRO, then that would make more sense.

And although your frame rates will be higher, there are sacrifices... 2D quality, image quality, FSAA quality, Glide compatibility... to name a few.

If you are ok with your frame rates now, then don't bother upgrading.

I suggest waiting for nFORCE, your AMD processor will thank you, so will your V5500 and will also have a GTS to play with.

get gts it performs a lot better if you are going to play tribes2.
Some people with voodoo 5 and 1 ghz processor get less than 20 fps on tribes2.
If you look at the Tribes2 system requires it requires a 500mhz processor with a voodoo 5 and a 300 mhz with a geforce
