I'm keeping a low profile on the BBS...finals are coming up.

They tested on a Dual PIII 800 system. That's pretty realistic for consumers :p

the speed is on par or alittle faster than the geforce2 ultra with some driver tweaking would be not bad.

I don't get one thing, it got only 85fps and no FSAA at 1024x780x32, my GTS produces 100fps at that resolution.

Is it time to say "I (we) told you so!" yet?

I don't know about anybody else, but I think, in terms of Quake 3 at least, the Voodoo 5 6000 has proven to be a bit of a let down.

I wouldn't call those results overly impressive, especially compared to what a lot of people's expectations were. Although in the card's defence, VE did state that the drivers 'clearly weren't optimised for Quake 3', which begs the question:

How will the 6000 perform in different games?

I wasn´t very impressed by it, it´s basically at GTSU speeds, just that it needs 4 CPU´s instead of one. Anyway, what was the purpose of the preview, I mean it´s not even gonna be sold to the consumers, so why tease us with it? ;)

I always hate this comparison. It is nothing but pure ignorance.

That is just like saying the Honda S2000 with a I-4 that does 0-60 in 5.5s is better than a LT-1 Trans AM with a V8 that does 0-60 in 5.5s. Is either better? No. They both cost the same and have around the same gas mileage so what does it matter?

actually, the v5 5.5k and the geforce have the same transistor count. so two chips, one chip, big deal. they're both 25 million transistors, give or take a million.

I know it doesn´t really matter how the job gets done, but I sort of expected more from the 4 CPU monster. And besides, they don´t have the same "gas mileage", the V56K needed an external PS only for the card.

1024x768x32 w/ 4x FSAA would be my sweet spot, and that card can't quite cut it there. The first card that can do that and maintain 60+ FPS will end up in my machine.

Even if it costs $500? (i.e. Geforce Ultra? Janes WW2 Fighters 4X FSAA 1024x768x32bit)

Let me amend my statement. :)

The games I want to play, at that res, color depth, and 4x FSAA. :)

An I'm willing to pay up to $250 for that card. Take into account the fact that I find $150 to be more than I wan to pay for any single component, I'm being pretty generous with that figure.

can u imagine how fast it'd be with HSR? hehe.. I mean, HSR=1 would be pretty nice with 1024X768X32 with 4X FSAA!

they only had a limited time though, so that's probably why.
