V2000z Advice Needed: Brightview vs Glare -and- Mobile Sempron vs Turion?

Hello,

Today I will order my V2000z from Staples and could use a little help.

I really dislike the glare I see on the Brightview type screens in the store and was glad to see I could order one without Brightview. Then I came across the following posted by "fbrdphreak" in another thread:thumbsup::

"BrightView utilizes a glossy coating and 2 backlights to produce brighter, more vibrant colors at the cost of glare on the screen. You do get used to it and personally I think HP's screens are all the better because of it. That is one weak area that HP has always had; not very bright screens w/poor viewing angle. The BrightView helps with that a lot."

Now I worry about getting a weak and/or blurry screen if I don't get brightview! Viewing angle isn't as important to me. Clear sharp text is most important & glare can be rather distracting to me. Any feedback as to which screen to get? Maybe you could compare the two options, such as:
Is the standard screen only best at glare reduction? Are the two screens equal as to text clarity? Etc.

Also, I have the option of various processors at different prices:
$00.00 - Sempron 2800+ 1.6GHz/256KB L2 Cache
$35.00 - Sempron 3000+ 1.8GHz/128KB L2 Cache
$85.00 - Turion 64 ML-28 1.6GHz/512KB L2 Cache
$105.00 - Turion 64 ML-30 1.6GHz/1MB L2 Cache
$155.00 - Turion 64 ML-34 1.8GHz/1MB L2 Cache (too much $$$ for me)
$205.00 - Turion 64 ML-30 2.0GHz/1MB L2 Cache (too much $$$ for me)

Price is a big deal so I'm looking for the best value in a processor for geneneral computing purposes, with battery life and low heat being more important than highest performance. On the other hand, I don't want my notebook to be a dog either. I will upgrade to at least 512MB of RAM.

The Semprons are mobile units at 25 watts. Any specific feedback as to the two Semprons? The first has lower speed but larger cache, while the second is faster but has half the cache? Does the cache size indicate .13nm or .09nm chips? Do they both use the same socket? Will the extra $35.00 buy me anything?

What advantages are there in moving up to the Turion ML-28 over the Sempron? The HP site stated the Turions as 35 watt parts. Will it be significantly faster? Does it run cooler? Use more or less power? Are these the same socket as the Semprons?

Lastly, is there much of any advantage moving from the ML-28 to the ML-30? With the ML-30 you get double the cache (1MB vs 512KB).

Thanks for your thoughts!

In regards to Brightview, I personally say get it. The glare is not a big issue and it is a lot like a TV. Think about if you have a regular glass-tube TV in a living room and you have some lights causing glare on the screen. At first you may notice the reflections constantly, but over a period of time your eyes will start to focus PAST the reflections and just focus on the screen.

I've used my gf's dv1000 (the one in the dv1000 review on this site) under the harshest flourescent lights and I didn't really notice the reflections. Outdoors isn't bad either.

Now if you were not to get Brightview, I would worry about the viewing angle and brightness. Clarity is pretty much the same, but brightness & color vividness is not. The 15" XGA on an older HP ze4000 never got very bright and the viewing angle was poor. I've noticed this to be present on most non-Brightview screens, but it has gotten better.

In regards to the CPU, here is what I would do. Set a maximum budget. Configure everything else you need on the notebook (optical drive, warranty, etc; figure in extra $ to add your own RAM) and then get the fastest CPU you can afford. Turion will probably give you about 10-15% better performance than Sempron and not horribly different battery life. If money is the biggest concern, get a Sempron 1.6 and don't look back. Just get your RAM up to 1GB and make sure you pick a 5400RPM drive. The 4200RPM drive kills performance more than anything.

Thanks Jassi & fbrdphreak!

More thoughts and opinions still welcome (I'm waiting 'til tomorrow to buy)

Thanks!

[Anyone else care to chime in before I run out and buy this? Esp. on the Brightview vs Glare issue?/B]
