V-Twin or straight four?

I'm talking superbikes here, none of this beardy, skull and crossbone easy-rider homo biking.
What's your engine of choice? The smooth, high revving straight four or the nimble thumping of a v-twin? Looking at the World superbike champtionship, Ducati (That's a v-twin, girls) has been dominating for years, but this year Suzuki and honda (with fours) have been ahead.

What would you go for, and why?

A very, very interesting question.

My suspicion is that the extra low-end of the V-Twin would be more forgiving to a less-than-capable shifter, as myself. I think this, because the I-4 has to be within a certain rpm range to 'get up and go' as it were.

If I were going for absolute performance (not withstanding my inability to extract said potential performance) I would go for the I-4.

If I were going for cruising and eye (and ear) -catching, I would go for the V-Twin.

I don't think I have a preference. I love the off-idle torque of a twin, but my bike sounds great once I lay into it above 8 grand. How bout I just buy two bikes?

For day to day riding, I would definately go for the inline.

For a fun bike on weekends, I would like to try a big twin(RC-51) some day.

I currently own a big single, and it has both those others beat for fun and character.
