An old dog with a new trick, the children's laptop from V-Tech stands out in the saturated market of computer products for kids. The Outdoor Trekker has math, English, geography, and games modules, but all mainly under the umbrella of outdoor activities. Instead of counting or matching printed numbers, a player counts fish. The trivia games focus on earth, sea, and sky, and the science feature focuses on animals and tracking. Other activities encourage recycling and learning about rare and extinct species. The adventure mode is a way to knowledge in all areas, and there is an extensive reference guide covering all subjects used in this laptop. The Outdoor Trekker is an excellent product that promotes learning through exploring the world in which we live. The Trekker also has a fully functioning, built-in radio. The unit ships with headphones and a shoulder strap, and there are expansion ports for a mouse and a printer (both sold separately). The durable plastic case is fitted with a sturdy handle for easy traveling, and the laptop runs on four AA batteries (not included). --Jay Weinland. A teacher and the father of 2-year-old Duncan, Jay Weinland is also a musician and has worked in the games-software industry.
From the Manufacturer

Is V-Tech stuff any good? I had a V-Tech cordless phone and it really sucked. Just traded in for a Siemens from OD.

Your V-Tech phone sucked??? V-Tech is the only name I'd really trust in cordless phones!!

What happened to it??? Overall I'd say V-Tech is top rate. Not only do the make good product (prone to the occasional defect as everyone is), but the have an excellent warranty service. I know that, atleast up here in Canada, you can do an over the counter exchange within the warranty period at Staples B&M, and at most other major retailers as well.

Everyone is right, some v-tech is top of the line, some is suck. I had a black vtech phone earlier this year, but it would always do the "beep beep beep" thingy when i picked it up. You just set it down and it would do that $hit. My brother bought the same phone when i bought mine and his did the same $hit. I eventually just threw it against a wall in the dorm. Pissed me off so much. Then i went out and bought another v-tech. One of those clear colored ones. I have the blue. Its a sweet phone, always crystal clear and works perfectly every time. So vtech=suck=great. both.

I've had two V-tech phones, and they have been the worst phones I've ever had in my life. They won't even work more then one room away. My old Sony analog 900mhz phone worked much better. I switched to Siemens.

I thought this was out-of-stock when I looked at it last weekend. Might have came back in stock temporarily or sometimes it appears to be in stock at Amazon until you actually click on the link. Hrmmm... whatever.
