I've wanted to buy an LCD to put behind or on top of my CRT, to watch TV on, and maybe some dual monitor stuff. Would this be good quality TV tuner?

I asked about doing this here, but didn't get fully answered.
It was suggested to me here that Viewsonic Nextvision's are a good tuners. How would the V-Stream Xpert compare?

Well the Nextvision is actually a video processor, at least the one I know of is, but I do believe there might be a lower end one. This will actively enhance the picture quality. It'll cost you more though, about $100 more for the vid processing. This looks pretty good, I like the 1280x1024. I don't know of its quality compared to other tuners, but it looks decent. If its very much cheaper than Nextvision's non-processing tuners then I'd get it over them, if about the same price, I'd go with the Viewsonic.

Well the Viewsonic VB50HRTV
seems to be a tuner, like the V-Stream, but the VB50HRTV can only do 1024x768, and is about $107 at compusa.com. The Viewsonic NextVision N4 (see same link above) has a video processor, and is $95 at newegg, but again is only 1024x768. The NextVision N5 is 1280x1024 and is $137 at buy.com The N6 is $180 at newegg.

Is 1280 worth it?

Well, it should look better on your monitor if it converts it to that. The N4/N5 is what I would recommend. The video processing will make it look quite a bit better, even at the lower resolution. It will de-interlace the picture, instead of just stretching it.
