I want a V.92 Modem. My ISP has the service for no extra charge, but ive got some questions.
Are they really any good?
Are they realy faster?
Which should I get?
What are teh mini-jack loking things on teh back?
thanks

My answer is yes.
I cannot verify that the increase in speed I realized when I switched to a v.92 modem was because of the v.92 or just other things, but I was able to realize the fastest on my phone line (45kb/s).
Still use it for faxing. DSL has taken the modem tasks.

All the v.92 offers over v.90 is improved upload speed and dial up time is reduced, not a huge improvement over v.90 but I guess better than nothing.

V.92 offers faster upstream, better compression, faster training, internet call on hold. V90 is PCM downstream (digital) and analog upstream. V.92 is PCM both directions. In theory, that should improve ping times since the upstream A/D conversion is removed. I have never tested that, however.
