Is there any NOTICEABLE quality difference between these two screens? Like in DVD play back, or gaming at 1024?

the UXGA has a res of 1600x1200 and the sxga has it as 1400x1050.

Other than that......

You need very good eyes to run 1600x1200 on a 15" LCD. Most people won't be able to comfortably use a resolution that high. If you have any plans to game, having a lower native resolution is very beneficial.
