Is there any concern that it hurts people's chances for getting a job?

The surveyers need to visit some of Wisconsin's other campuses. The gentile scholars of UW-Oshkosh, UW-Whitewater, or UW-Stout could drink the Madison crowd under the table, drive them home, and head back to the bar.

maybe they could at today's school... but 10+ years ago there's no wya anyone was touching Madison. Especially the Band guys. They could drink more than anyone I ever met back when they'd drink on the entire road trip to different schools. But they aren't allowed to do that any more. heh.

No because Madison normally ranks pretty high on the scholastic polls as well. Some of their grad school programs are the tops in the nation

yeah right. I've been to a few of the other campuses (currently living near UW Milwaukee). Madison blows them all out of the water. Sorry to break it to you!

Plus don't forget there is a difference between being a heavy drinker and being a moron who riots over any stupid thing. (UW-Oshkosh)

UW-zero! If I remember correctly, for some time during the early 90's they had the highest freshman dropout/flunkout rate in the nation. And the 10 story beer bong was...interesting.

Let's also be honest about Madison's party reputation. At least in part it is due to sheer numbers. Which is fine. But if you grabbed 100 random people from each of the WI campuses for a drinking contest, I would bet that Madison would have difficulty being in the top 3.

I'd like to thank my fellow students and alumni for working so hard to keep our ranking.

My school made #3...and we have a higher average SAT score...

We dont take the SATs to get into Madison. We take the ACTs. So :p

I propose a competition, bring 10 of your finest drinkers up to Lehigh, and we will have a Beer Olympics. The games will consist of funneling, beer pong, beer slides, and flip cup, to name a few. You can suggest some games if you like.

When I went to UW-Madison (graduated 2003), we'd have friends come from all the smaller UW schools (usually for Halloween) and we'd always have to give them a key to our apartment so they could go to bed and we'd stay out partying.

I'm convinced that it was the class of 2004 that killed the party ranking for UW-Madison. When I showed up in 1998-99, we were ranked near the top for party schools, but after that year we dropped down and now that the class of 2004 is gone, UW-Madison is back where it belongs :). Can't wait to go tailgate at camp Randall this year.

This could very well be. I have to admit, my first hand knowledge comes mostly from 92-98, my last couple years of high school and while I was an undergrad. In the last 6 though, I don't have any first hand knowledge of what's going on there.

Wow, what an honor. They should do a real poll and see which campus has the most litter on the lawn of student housing areas. I am sure we would win that one too.

I attended Osksosh for three semesters and then graduated from Madison. Madison is a better school in everyway but the Oshkosh crowd can still leave the Madison students in the dirt when it comes to getting stupid drunk early and often. Which explains to some extent why Madison is a better school.

When did Madison start leaning toward the ACT? They used to want to see students take the SAT.
