So I'm getting this error in utorrent "filename or extension is too long" and I'm not sure how to fix this. I have this thing pointed directly at D:/ so the path shouldn't be a problem. Can I somehow change the name of what it's saving as? I can't find any option like that.

Windows XP, yes latest version 1.7.7. The torrent to my knowledge isn't fake as it seems to have quite a few seeders and leechers. And yes it's only with this torrent.

It does have a really long name for god knows why, but the fact that I can't change the name it's saving as is a bummer.

IDK about utorrent, but the "filename / path too long" problem happens to me ALL THE TIME under Windows. It is one of the most pathetic things about it, and there's basically no fix that I know of at the operating system level.

People may be using a MacIntosh or LINUX or something to host / download those files since there's much less brain-damage about filesystems in those other platforms.

Try a different torrent software that lets you rename the files (assuming there's no way for utorrent to do it) maybe?

Or you could try saving them to a FAT16 formatted floppy or whatever in which case it'd possibly rename it to an 8.3 name for you... maybe.

Hmmm... could it be FAT32 as well? I believe it's a specific problem to NTFS but I'm not sure. Either way I'll try it on my external drive when I get home to see.
