Are there programs/utilites that help you set/adjust you monitor to optimal settings? For help with the more obscure settings like convergence, moire, and degauss?

Nokia have a Nokia monitor test program but after they sold their monitor business to Viewsonic it is unavailable from their site but you can still find it in some places like this http://www.construnet.hu/nokia/Monitors/TEST/monitor_test.html

Yeah, I went to the Nokia site, looking for that util I heard people make reference to, and got the page stating that they sold thier monitor business to VS.

You might try http://www.colormatch.com
There is a free program..colormatch web that lets you adjust colors while using the browser.
They have other programs that adjust colors in other applications but they cost and some are not yet available.
